Handmade Christmas: Double Garter Cowl
I love handmade gifts and in my experience, people love receiving them— the more unique the better! I’ve been making my Christmas gifts for the last few years since I really enjoy working with my hands. When the whole “Handmade Christmas” posters started floating around, I jumped on board. If you are more interested in making rather than buying from great shops on etsy or local stores, here are some ideas I’ve come across that you might like.
Cowls are one of those things that’s been around in the knitting world for ages, but have popped up in stores around the world only recently. Weird since cowls are one of the essential pieces to keep your neck warm from the ice cold winter. Scarves always seem to have a rogue end that drags behind, but cowls hug the neck like a koala on a tree (can you imagine how adorable your friend will look in this now?)
If you know someone who has recently moved to cold weather or likes to walk in the snow, condiser the Double Garter Cowl. It’s unisex and the perfect size to wrap around the neck once or twice, depending on the person’s style.
Great project for: beginner knitters
Perfect gift for: last minute mother in law presents, fashionista friends, skiiers/snowboarders
Bonus: Hold two strands of different colored worsted weight yarn to get a multicolored cowl that is the same size.
